4 Stress Management Tips for the New Year

Stress is a normal part of everyday life, but when we feel stressed, our bodies react in different ways. Some people experience physical symptoms, while others become anxious or depressed.

Identify What Causes Stress in Your Life

There are many things that cause stress in our lives. These might include work, family responsibilities, financial issues, relationship problems, or even daily hassles. It’s important to identify these sources of stress so that you can learn how to manage them.

Find Ways to Reduce Stress

One of the easiest ways to reduce stress is by taking care of yourself physically. Exercise regularly, eating well, sleep enough, and drink plenty of water. You should also try to spend some time each day doing something enjoyable. This will help you relax and feel better.

Practice Relaxation Techniques

Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga, and tai chi can help you manage stress. These activities can improve your mood and make you more productive at work.

Deep breathing exercises can be done anywhere, anytime. You can practice them while waiting in line at the grocery store, walking from one room to another, or sitting at your desk. The key is to take slow, deep breaths through your nose. Try counting slowly to four as you inhale and exhale. If you find yourself getting anxious or stressed, try taking a few moments to focus on your breath.

Take Time Out from Work or School

If you feel overwhelmed by stress, take some time off from work or school. You might also consider taking up a hobby or volunteering. This will give you something else to focus on besides your job or studies.

Scheduling time during the day for meeting deadlines at work or studying for exams can minimize stress. If you are working on a project at work and can find a solution or answer, take time away. And take a walk sometimes all you need is to give your brain time and once you come back you may find the solution was always there. When studying take short breaks once you start feeling overwhelmed or tired.

Talk About it.

Talking about your feelings helps you understand them better. It also gives you an opportunity to share your thoughts with others who care about you.

During my infancy she would often treat me with herbal teas when I was sick. I learned a great deal from her. Throughout the years as a practicing healer with herbs, Reiki, meditation and other modalities I have found that the mind and emotions are the root cause of many diseases. I share in this blog what I have learned, practice and continue learning. So that you can benefit as much as I have. I am a single mother and currently a caregiver for my 98-year-old mother.
